Christmas Songs

Here is the music and the words for our Christmas songs.

Where shall we go this Christmas?
What do we want to see?
Any place in the whole wide world
And you can come with me.

(Let’s go to Jamacia)
Oh-oh-oh, Merry Christmas
Oh-oh-oh and a Happy New Year

(Let’s go to Spain)
A ti. Feliz Navidad! A ti, Feliz Navidad
Feliz Navidad
Atodos mis amigo
A ti. Feliz navidad

(Let’s go to Kenya)
Praise the Lord for he is born today
Kumbayah, Kumayah
Praise the Lord for he is born today
Kumbayah, my Lord.

(Let’s go to Russia)
Have you heard the news the angels bring?
There’s a baby born to be a king!
Can you hear the church bells ring?
Merry Christmas we sing?

Ho, ho, ho
Here we go
Santa’s on his way
Bringing all the presents
For Christmas Day (x2 first and last)
He’s got the reindeer ready
He’s polished his black boots
He’s washed and brushed his big white beard
And put on his red suit

He’s packed a turkey sandwich
He’s filled a flask of tea.
He hopes he’ll find some nice mince pies
Beneath your Christmas tree.

Bringing all the presents
For Christmas Day

Elmgrove Music

This is a great site for some songs that have simple chords that we can use on the instruments we are learning to play, and they are great to just sing.

Matariki

Here is a simple action song we are learning for Matariki. Any junior children from Milton Primary School who attend the Matariki celebrations in Milton will perform this waiata along with the senior Kapa Haka group.
                                Matariki
Tirama, tirama Matariki
Me ana tamariki
Tupu anuku
Tupu arangi
Waiti waita

Creative Musicians!

On Tuesday the Year 5 and 6 children had a busy time writing their own rhythmic patterns, sharing them with the rest of the class and then playing them on the percussion instruments. From the photos I think you will be able to tell how focused they were.

Gummy Bear Dance

Frozen

The snow glows white on the mountain tonight,
not a footprint to be seen.
A kingdom of isolation and it looks like I'm the queen.
The wind is howling like this swirling storm inside.
Couldn't keep it in, Heaven knows I tried.
Don't let them in, don't let them see.
Be the good girl you always have to be.
Conceal, don't feel, don't let them know.
Well, now they know!
Let it go, let it go!
Can't hold it back any more.
Let it go, let it go!
Turn away and slam the door.
I don't care what they're going to say.
Let the storm rage on.
The cold never bothered me anyway.
It's funny how some distance,
makes everything seem small.
And the fears that once controlled me, can't get to me at all
It's time to see what I can do,
to test the limits and break through.
No right, no wrong, no rules for me.
I'm free!
Let it go, let it go.
I am one with the wind and sky.
Let it go, let it go.
You'll never see me cry.
Here I'll stand, and here I'll stay.
Let the storm rage on.
My power flurries through the air into the ground.
My soul is spiraling in frozen fractals all around
And one thought crystallizes like an icy blast
I'm never going back; the past is in the past!
Let it go, let it go.
And I'll rise like the break of dawn.
Let it go, let it go
That perfect girl is gone
Here I stand, in the light of day.

Let the storm rage on!
The cold never bothered me anyway...

"Thank You For The Music"

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nMQ1fOEucLk

I'm nothing special, in fact I'm a bit of a bore
If I tell a joke, you've probably heard it before
But I have a talent, a wonderful thing
'Cause everyone listens when I start to sing
I'm so grateful and proud
All I want is to sing it out loud

So I say
Thank you for the music, the songs I'm singing
Thanks for all the joy they're bringing
Who can live without it, I ask in all honesty
What would life be?
Without a song or a dance what are we?
So I say thank you for the music
For giving it to me

Mother says I was a dancer before I could walk
She says I began to sing long before I could talk
And I've often wondered, how did it all start?
Who found out that nothing can capture a heart
Like a melody can?
Well, whoever it was, I'm a fan

So I say
Thank you for the music, the songs I'm singing
Thanks for all the joy they're bringing
Who can live without it, I ask in all honesty
What would life be?
Without a song or a dance what are we?
So I say thank you for the music
For giving it to me

I've been so lucky, I am the girl with golden hair
I wanna sing it out to everybody
What a joy, what a life, what a chance!

So I say
Thank you for the music, the songs I'm singing
Thanks for all the joy they're bringing
Who can live without it, I ask in all honesty
What would life be?
Without a song or a dance what are we?
So I say thank you for the music
For giving it to me
